Responsive / Mobile Design
As more and more consumers begin to switch to smartphones and tablets, sometimes even replacing their desktop or laptop, a website that offers an excellent experience, no matter what the screen size, has become all the more important. To that end, traditional website design required creating multiple templates to address common desktop/laptop screen sizes. A new (or several new) design template would have to be created for mobile. Cost was often prohibitive.
Mobile users are rarely looking to read pages and pages of information. As such, a good responsive design provides a quick and easy pathway to the user’s ultimate goal, without compromising aesthetics or search engine ranking. As the browser window size shrinks, the site responds, either by zooming out or rearranging elements.
